The ability to change gear when stationary is not to underestimated, especially on a loaded bike or a tandem. Going back to derailleurs always seems a retrograde step. WebThe Rohloff comes with a twist shifter that fits 22.2mm flat bars, not 23.8mm drop bars. There are a bunch of aftermarket solutions, ranging from a bar-end extension of the right diameter to a Gelba Rho-box with SRAM brifters. It's probably around $2000 worth of parts, and that's sticking with a chain.
